No judgement here. Just real life conversations...
I'm a person-centred counsellor and I offer short term or longer term counselling depending on what your needs and circumstances. Sessions are around 50 minutes and I can offer face to face in Barnsley, online or over the phone. I can also be quite flexible with appointments.
I want people to feel comfortable contacting me even if they’ve never had counselling before or don’t really know what they need. No judgement, just real life conversations and a safe space to talk about whatever is going on for them.
Men and women are equally welcome.
Are you just going through something difficult and need to work through it...
You might not necessarily need “therapy”, you might just be stuck, have something going on in your life or need somewhere to talk it through and work out what to do next. We are here for you.
Not everyone
"does counselling"
the same way
Struggle to find a counsellor who actually understands what you’re dealing with. With neurodiverse clients I can adapt how I work to you rather than expecting everybody to “do counselling” in the same way.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between therapy and counselling?
The words therapy and counselling are often used interchangeably and there’s a lot of overlap between the two.
Counselling may focus more on something you’re going through right now, while therapy can sometimes involve exploring deeper patterns, experiences and relationships over time.
You don’t need to worry about choosing the right one. We can talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and find an approach that feels right for you.
What can I come to a session for?
You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or know exactly what’s wrong to come to therapy.
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low, stuck, struggling with relationships or simply want some space to understand yourself better.
We can start wherever you are.
I’ve never had therapy before what should I expect?
It’s completely normal to feel unsure about your first session. We’ll spend some time getting to know each other, talking about what has brought you to therapy and what you’d like support with. You won’t be expected to have all the answers.
Is everything I say confidential?
What you share in therapy is treated with respect and confidentiality, subject to the usual professional and legal limits. I’ll explain confidentiality and any exceptions clearly when we first meet.
Can I have therapy online?
Yes. Sessions are available online/in person or both depending on your preference and circumstances.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 50 minutes long but this can vary depending on your needs.
